When I discovered Isabel Allende's work in all its complexity and depth, there was no question that I had to craft my own interpretation. Allende’s writing has inspired me because of her beautiful depiction of women characters as strong protagonists capable of making decisions with both their minds and their hearts. The emotions I felt while painting this portrait were powerful, extracted from the nuance that exists between a female character’s story and her spirit.
