Inspiring Women

Mixed Media, 23x48, “Woman of the Wood”, by Carolina Alvarado

When we think about world history, one might notice a pattern of male dominance, with women being recognized less or given a smaller platform to showcase their achievements and contributions. Regardless, women have fought for their rights to be equal in all aspects of life throughout history. The road to achieving women's rights has been long and challenging. As we know, the struggle is far from over. This is why Carolina Alvarado is proud to highlight and celebrate women and their triumphs all over the world.

The official beginning of women's rights movements dates back to the late 19th century when women started demanding equal rights; including the right to own property, to vote, and to receive an education. In the workforce, women faced several challenges, including lack of recognition, low pay, and limited opportunities to showcase their work. Even so, many women persevered and continued to realize monumental accomplishments, paving the way for future generations.

Today, women's rights movements have come a long way, and Carolina Alvarado is honored to commemorate the undertakings of women all around the world and their roles in shaping the world as we know it. Carolina’s series, “Damelotuyo” (Gift Me What’s Yours) takes the opportunity to highlight the beauty and power of female figureheads, regardless of not being recognized, and to remind us of their impact on history. This body of work is designed to purposefully inspire future generations, both male and female alike, to progress humankind through ideals encompassing sympathy and tolerance rather than cruelty and degradation.

The series, “Damelotuyo”, embodies the spirit of women's rights by elevating diversity, inclusivity, and recognizing the strengths of women throughout history. It is Carolina’s goal to include a range of perspectives and intentions to break down stereotypes and exalt the importance of diverging from oppressive colonial ideals.

This collection features a series of paintings, unified through a very specific color scheme of red, (which has historically been associated with sacrifice, danger, and courage), and gold, (considered to be one of the most precious metals of the world, symbolizing success, achievement, accomplishment, and triumph). Every piece is unique, showcasing Carolina's distinctive style while memorializing the diverse perspectives and contributions of heroic women worldwide.

While women's rights movements have advanced, there is still so much more work to be carried out with regard to creating a more equitable and inclusive society. Caroship Designs is a brand that is committed to celebrating the achievements of women, artists, and contributing to human rights causes. Through Carolina Alvarado’s art, Caroship Designs aims to inspire and empower people of all backgrounds, and prompt their audience to commit to the disintegration of divisive systems designed to tyrannize the public. We hope that by learning about the history of women's rights and through the inspiring work we see in the series “Damelotuyo”, we can all be encouraged to continue supporting women's rights and celebrating the beauty of progress.
